Research Priorities
- Calculating the burden of diseases and risk factors at the national and subnational level, estimating the economic burden of diseases
- Identification, implementation and evaluation of effective, applicable and indigenous community-based interventions to control priority non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, etc. and their underlying factors (such as hypertension, obesity, smoking, etc.) such as studies with a community-based participatory approach (CBPR) in different populations
- Examining the indicators of prevalence and incidence and factors affecting the disease and the course of the disease and providing prevention, treatment and rehabilitation strategies using population based and large scale studies and effective evaluation of transnational strategies, estimating the economic burden of diseases
- Design and standardization of priority non-communicable diseases diagnostic and screening tools
- Study of new diagnostic and treatment methods such as gene therapy, tuberculosis therapy, immunotherapy, nuclear medicine, personalized medicine, E-health technologies, mobile health, digital medicine and new surgical strategies in non-communicable diseases are a priority.
- Production and application of tools and clinical knowledge products such as guidelines, treatment protocols and CTD, HTA in non-communicable diseases is a priority
- Investigating and improving the quality of life in priority non-communicable diseases
- Investigating the effectiveness, cost effectiveness of interventions for the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of non-communicable diseases (pharmacological, non-pharmacological) with priority
- Evaluation of diagnosis, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation interventions and measures of Iranian medicine in priority non-communicable diseases
- Design and evaluation of care, nursing and rehabilitation interventions in priority non-communicable diseases
- Launching a priority non-communicable diseases registration program
- Investigating the role of environmental pollutants in the development of non-communicable diseases
- Analyzing cancer registration data and determining the geographical distribution and trends of incidence, prevalence and death caused by cancer in the country
- Examining the risk factors of cancers and methods of preventing exposure to risk factors (cigarettes and other substances, infections, obesity, etc.).
- Evaluating the rate of response to treatment, survival, recurrence and side effects of various cancer treatments including surgery, radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, and immunotherapy.
- Genetic engineering and the production of pharmaceutical enzymes and proteins and the production of nanoparticles with biological origin
- Designing and manufacturing rehabilitation equipment to evaluate and treat diseases
- Design, manufacture, development and optimization of mechatronic and robotic systems in medical education, diagnosis and treatment
- Designing and manufacturing equipment, diagnostic and treatment methods and software for sleepiness and sleep disorders
- Basic and applied research in the field of genetics, epigenetics and gene therapy with the aim of diagnosis, treatment and prevention of priority diseases.
